Everything in life has a goal, from its birth till its death all things in the universe serve a purpose and have a destiny.
Destiny is a word that has been overused by some people but greatly ignored by most, destiny, to me, is your deepest desire, the thing that wakes you up in the morning and keeps you playing this game called life.
The heart plays an important role in realizing one’s destiny; if you were taught to ignore your heart then you’ve been taught something detrimental to your bane of existence. The heart shows you the path that you must take in order to achieve your goals and if you ignore it you’ll be lost forever wondering why things turned out the way they did.
There are two particular books that I’ve read that have taught me how to listen to my heart, trust my instincts and take a chance. I’ve never feared change when I was younger and I still strive to keep that inquisitive sense of adventure alive even when life throws me a huge curve ball.
The first book that I read changed my way of thinking completely, it’s called Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. I found this book while searching for motivational books on my Kindle and I am happy that it revealed itself to me when I needed it the most.
“Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”- Napoleon Hill
Our minds have the ability to create abundant treasures if we have the desire and courage to follow our dreams. Nothing but our own selves is stopping us from getting what we truly want and we have a tendency of talking ourselves out of the things that we desire the most.
As kids, we were all taught to follow our dreams but when we got to a certain age the same people that told us to chase our dreams start telling us to stop dreaming and accept the reality that dreams never come true. They are subconsciously passing their fears on to you; they’ve stopped listening to their hearts and accepted failure because they weren’t strong enough to go after what they wanted. They kept waiting for the right time to start but they didn’t understand that there is no right time to start.
“Don’t wait. The time will never be just right.” – Napoleon Hill
Take chances and do it wholeheartedly, if we don’t believe in ourselves then how do we expect others to believe in us?
This brings me to the next book, it the story of a shepherd boy who represents every human in the entire world, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.
The journey to our goals doesn’t have a map or a straight path without obstacles, the journey to what we really want in life will be hard and we will be tested every step of the way. Most people give up because it’s easier to accept failure; they’re breaking their own hearts by giving up on their pursuit of happiness.
“No heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dream.” Paulo Coelho
The shepherd boy goes off to follow his heart and he did give up a few times but when you really desire something, with your whole being, you never really give up. Your heart is still trying to tell you to go after what will make you happy; you just have to listen closely.
“When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better, too.”- Paulo Coelho
Once we decide that nothing will get in our way, everything will start changing to help us along the way. We are not on our own, the universe wants us to succeed in our endeavors so it will help us and show us signs to point us to our path.
Once I decided to truly follow my heart, amazing things started happening. I’ve met some great people and I’ve learned some valuable lessons that I wouldn’t have learned if I didn’t decide to take the first step. Things blew up, things worked out, they knocked me down only to build me right back up, this path is a freaking rollercoaster and I’m happy I’m on this ride.
The thirst for knowledge only gets more intense because I now know that everything I learn is of great value and will be called upon when I am very close to achieving my goals. I will say that I am mentally ready for whatever life decides to throw at me next because it will be just another lesson to learn from and I’ll be one step closer to my dreams.
I urge you to get these books and read them front to back and over again, they will change your life and light a fire under you that will only push you towards greatness.
Don’t give up on what makes your heart truly happy.
